How many property management openings are live right now, where they are, and what federal data says about the people who manage, lease and maintain properties.
Every federal figure below names the BLS occupation it describes and says whether it counts payroll employees only or the self-employed too.
These numbers are PropertyManagerHires’s own: every active listing on the board, from employer career sites and direct postings.
Every other figure on this page comes from a federal agency or a named industry source.

How to read these numbers.
This is a live sample of the openings PropertyManagerHires tracks, not a count of every property management job in the country.
Roles follow our job categories, not BLS occupations, and listings we cannot place in a state count only in the total.
If you cite them, include the date shown and link to this page.
BLS counts property managers as their own occupation; maintenance and leasing staff fall into broader occupations that reach beyond real estate.
Payroll counts leave out self-employed workers. Projection counts include them, so they run higher.

Each role page combines live listing figures with the BLS data for that role.
A role page is published once the board tracks at least 300 of its listings from 25 employers.
PropertyManagerHires listed 10,550 live property management openings from 277 employers on November 5, 2026. The count covers every active listing on the board and is refreshed every six hours.

The real estate industry (NAICS 531) had 1,837,320 payroll jobs in May 2025 (BLS OEWS). General maintenance and repair workers were the largest occupation, with 316,160 jobs (17.21%), followed by property, real estate and community association managers with 252,840 (13.76%).

From 2025 to 2035 BLS projects employment growth of 3.7% for property, real estate and community association managers, 4.2% for general maintenance and repair workers and 3.0% for counter and rental clerks. That is about 36,900, 148,700 and 46,100 openings a year, counting replacements for workers who leave each occupation.
The national median wage for property, real estate and community association managers was $69,990 a year ($33.65 an hour) in May 2025 (BLS OEWS). Inside the real estate industry the median was $64,290. These figures cover payroll employees only.

No. BLS has no single occupation for leasing agents or leasing consultants. The closest available proxy is counter and rental clerks, an occupation whose O*NET sample titles include leasing consultant: 93,130 of them worked in the real estate industry in May 2025 at a median of $42,880 a year (BLS OEWS). Treat it as a stand-in, not a leasing-agent figure.
Not the OEWS payroll counts and wages, which cover wage-and-salary workers only. BLS Employment Projections do include the self-employed, which is why they run higher: 460,400 property, real estate and community association manager jobs in 2025, 31.3% of them self-employed.
Live figures count every active, paid listing on PropertyManagerHires when the page was generated, and the page refreshes every six hours.
Federal figures are quoted as BLS published them: OEWS May 2025 for payroll employment and wages, and Employment Projections 2025–35 for growth and openings.
Industry figures come from the OEWS industry file for the real estate industry (NAICS 531), which BLS does not split into lessors and property managers.
Where BLS has no occupation for a property management role, such as leasing agents, we name the closest occupation and label it, or show no figure at all.
Industry indicators are quoted from the named trade or research body, with the period each one covers.
